Educational Programs
MAAV provides the following educational programs in the community:
Domestic violence awareness workshops for church, civic and community groups. Workshops are customized to the needs and interests of the group. Typically, workshops focus on the dynamics and warning signs of domestic violence, understanding the cycle of abuse, and practical strategies for helping a friend, co-worker or relative who may be in an abusive relationship.
Training on Domestic Violence for professional groups, including healthcare providers, teachers, childcare workers, security guards, clergy, and law enforcement officers. Trainings are customized to the group and focus on how to effectively intervene in domestic violence and support victims as well as their children.
Parent Workshops are offered in conjunction with educational programs for students, including awareness workshops on bullying, teen depression and suicide, coping with stress and teen dating violence. MAAV workshops are typically sponsored by Parent-Teacher Organizations or church groups, and are often taped for broadcast on the local cable television station in order to reach additional parents in the community.
Please contact MAAV at 781-662-2010 if you would like to discuss scheduling a workshop or training for your group.
