Instead of saying… Try saying…

“I feel…” “I notice…”
“How would you feel if…?” “How do you think he/she felt?” or
“We don’t allow that here…”
“Stop tattling!” “Thank you for telling me…”
“Nice job!” “I noticed that…”
“What happened?” “What did you do?”
“Work it out…” “We don’t allow that here…”
“Just ignore it…” or “Just suck it up…” “What have you tried already?”
“Why did you do that?” “We don’t allow that here…”
