We invite you to join us for MAAV’s 25th Anniversary Walk & Candlelight Vigil.

This year’s walk theme is: “Lighting the Way Together,” a message we think reflects MAAV’s 25 years in the community and one that resonates even more as the community comes together to deal with the pandemic.

Because of COVID-19, our events will look a little different this year. Our Candlelight Vigil will be held online, on Sunday, October 18 at 4pm. The event will be streamed live and we will share the link as we get closer to the date. During the Vigil, we will present our 10th Annual Advocacy in Action Award to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, honoring her long-standing dedication to helping victims of domestic violence.

The Walk itself will take place during the weekend of October 24-25. We are asking the community to walk individually, with their families, friends or teams at any point during the weekend.

New this year: we are asking all participants to register for the Walk! We are offering various levels of registration, including a free option. You can register and learn more by clicking here. Everyone who registers for the event will receive a map of the Walk route, with details on 25 special items that have been placed along the route for you to find!

As always, MAAV’s Walk will raise awareness about domestic violence and the funds necessary to continue MAAV’s programs and services. To help us raise those funds, businesses, community organizations and families can serve as event sponsors. We also welcome individual contributions, which can be made online via FirstGiving.

The event serves as MAAV’s largest annual fundraiser, with last year’s Walk raising almost $50,000. Donations are used to fund prevention and intervention initiatives throughout the community and schools. MAAV’s programs seek to curb bullying, teen dating abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.
