“Moving Forward in Your Relationships” is a confidential, weekly support group MAAV offers at no charge to victims and survivors of domestic violence, or anyone struggling in an unhealthy relationship. The group is led by a licensed clinical social worker and focuses on issues such as healthy communication skills, coping with stress, self-care and the impact of domestic violence on children. New members are always welcome. Contact MAAV at 781-662-2010 for more information.
Brochures and “palm cards” listing domestic violence hotlines and resources are placed in offices, waiting areas and restrooms in over 30 healthcare, business, church and school locations throughout Melrose. We have also developed a “teen palm card” which lists hotline numbers specifically for youth and is distributed through the schools and in the community. Contact us if you would like palm cards to distribute at your site.
MAAV works closely with the Domestic Violence Officer at the Melrose Police Department to follow up on domestic violence calls to the police. We offer information on obtaining restraining orders, safety planning, and resources for legal assistance.
MAAV also offers confidential and individual support, information, and resource and referral services to victims, family members, friends, or anyone in the community seeking help. We provide referrals to legal assistance, individual counseling, healthcare, services for children, and batterers’ intervention.
Whether you are a victim, friend or family member, we encourage you to call MAAV at 781-662-2010 to schedule a visit. Services are confidential and free of charge.
