Survivor Support Services
MAAV is here for survivors. Survivor support services are open to any person in the Mystic Valley Region who has experienced, or is currently experiencing, unhealthy relationships or domestic violence. MAAV’s Survivor Advocate can offer confidential and individual support for survivors, family members, friends, or anyone in the community seeking help. MAAV’s weekly support group, “Moving Forward in your Relationships” is open to domestic violence survivors and anyone struggling in an unhealthy relationship.
Survivor Advocacy
Our Approach:
Survivors are the experts on their own lives. Every survivor’s situation is unique, and survivors respond to trauma and violence differently. MAAV’s collaborative, strengths based advocacy approach is survivor centered, survivor led, and entirely voluntary. Survivors decide when to engage with MAAV. Our advocate follows the survivor’s lead, tailoring support based on the survivor’s wants, needs, resources, and short and long-term goals.
Our Services:
MAAV provides confidential resource and referral services and individual support. We offer referrals to legal assistance, individual counseling, health care, services for children, and financial assistance. We can help survivors with safety planning and offer information on obtaining restraining orders. MAAV works closely with the Melrose Police Department Domestic Violence Officer and Respond Inc.’s Domestic Violence Civilian Advocate.
Support Group
MAAV’s free, confidential, virtual weekly support group brings survivors together and provides a community space to connect, learn, and find support. Facilitated and led by a licensed clinical social worker, members discuss issues like coping with stress, healthy communication skills, self-care, and the impact of domestic violence on children.
